DEFINITION

A premature beat (or extrasystole) is defined as a heart rhythm disorder, corresponding to a premature contraction of one of the heart cavities, either the auricle, or the ventricle.

It is a relatively frequent demonstration in the population, which is often not well felt and pose to the physician the problem of its cause.

The treatment rests above all on its cause, but also on efficient and well-tolerated anti-arrhythmic medicines.
