Definition
The aortic valve is situated between the left ventricle of the heart and the aorta artery, a vessel through which the ejected blood is redistributed in the entire organism. Normally, blood travels from the heart toward the aorta, and once out of the heart it must not come back. The aortic insufficiency is defined as an abnormal reflux of the aorta blood toward the left ventricle, due to a tightness defect of the aortic valves.
