PROGNOSIS

The main cause of death is the rupture of the aorta.

The prognosis essentially depends on the blood flow in the false channel: the more considerable this flow is, the worse the prognosis is.

If on the other hand the flow in this channel is shallow and if clots of blood exist, the prognosis is good.

The surgery and the endovascular treatment (installation of a device directly into the artery) has transformed the prognosis of some aortic dissections.
