DEFINITION

A lack of blood contribution at the lower members level, and more especially of their extremities, is due to a brutal interruption of the blood circulation.

An obstacle on the artery causes this illness, this artery brings blood at the level of the lower members. This obstacle is generally indicative of an attack of the wall of the artery or results from an embolism.

It is a non-rare illness, whose mechanism is often the development of the atherosclerosis on the arteries of the lower members but also on other arteries.

This attack of the wall of the arteries is very often induced by cardiovascular risk factors: tobacco, diabetes, an excessive cholesterol rate in blood, HBP (high blood pressure) and obesity.
