The trans-oesophagus Doppler ultrasound of the heart is achieved by the cardiologist according to the following indications (the main ones are described below but the list is not exhaustive):

- Illness of a valve of the heart;

- Research of an infectious endocarditis;

- Research of a communication between the two atria or the two ventricles;

- Research of a blood clot in a cavity of the heart, especially the left atrium and in an area situated right beside, named the left auricle.

- Diagnosis or follow-up of an illness of the aorta;

- Precision of an abnormal picture observed on the ultrasound of the heart achieved conventionally.

COMPLICATIONS

The complications of the trans-oesophagus Doppler ultrasound of the heart are very rare.The main complication is the formation of a rip of the oesophagus at the time of the passage of the probe.
