INDICATIONS OF THE ELECTROCARDIOGRAM

- The illnesses of the heart muscle

This exam permits to detect very many illnesses of the heart, first of all the illness of the arteries of the heart called the coronary arteries (angina pectoris, infarct).

- The disorders of the heart rhythm

The slowing of the cardiac frequency (bradycardia) or on the contrary its acceleration (tachycardia) can be easily detected thanks to an electrocardiogram holter. The physician even specifies the exact nature of the rhythmic illness of the heart and will be able to decide the installation of a pacemaker if necessary.

All premature beats are also recorded and counted.

- The disorders of the cardiac conduction

The practice of a 24 hours EKG holter can permit to find a disorder of the electric conduction between the atria and the ventricles or within the ventricle.

This exam is achieved in particular at the time of the occurrence of a dizzy spell, loss of consciousness or syncope.
